I am so honored to have won First Prize in the Folk category of the 2009 USA Songwriting Competition for my song Bullets to Bite
Since 1995, the USA Songwriting Competition - "the world's leading international songwriting event" - has been honoring songwriters, composers, bands, and recording artists everywhere. Winners were selected by a Blue Ribbon committee of music industry judges including record label publishers, producers, A&R from Universal Music, Warner, EMI, Sony/BMG Music, and other distinguished professionals.

I am very proud and thrilled to be completing my sophomore full-length album with legendary record producer and musician John Jennings. Jennings has worked with some of today's finest artists including Mary Chapin Carpenter, Janis Ian, Indigo Girls, John Gorka, BeauSoleil, John McCutcheon, Robin and Linda Williams, Catie Curtis, Bill Morrisey, Cheryl Wheeler, Kathy Mattea, George Jones, Iris DeMent, and Tony Rice.
These are exciting times for independent music! No longer are the days of "big-breaks" and major record label deals. These are the times of 'Do-It-Yourself' distribution, "guerilla-marketing", and FUNDRAISING! The goal is to entirely pay for the making of the record so that when it is released, I can focus on the business of touring, promoting and distributing with as little debt as possible.
Making this body of work has been a wonderful experience as well as a long and arduous process - from writing the songs, to recording, to designing the CD artwork.
