Bio

Somewhere in between a deep dark-holler, a Texas road-house and a Manhattan bound F-Train, you'll find singer-songwriter Melissa Greener, picking a guitar and singing her truth. Inspired by modernist poets & literate folk singers, Greener's songs are exquisitely crafted portraits of the human condition – hers and ours.  Melodic, rhythmic and quirky, they captivate with dynamic ranges and moody tones, in a unique language all her own.

Growing up with an intoxicating potion of Mo-town, crooner tunes and 60’s Laurel Canyon folkies, Greener’s signature phrasing evolved.  By way of a classically trained soprano mother, who sang in the lounge of the Playboy Club in Detroit, and a socialist hippie father, a unique and beautiful brew emerged.

Ever after the next adventure, Greener has trekked mountain ranges in the Alps, Slovakia and Tibet.  She’s pedaled a bicycle across Canada and lived in a rural village in China.  “I once sailed so far into the Mediterranean Sea I couldn’t see land, and have seen so many stars in an Egyptian desert I couldn’t see the sky.”  Her current adventure is a full time schedule of international touring, performing in theaters, festivals and house concerts alike.

Greener's sophomore release, Dwelling, was helmed by acclaimed producer John Jennings (Mary Chapin Carpenter) and has won awards and glowing reviews throughout the music industry.  Fall From the Sky, her debut release, continues to receive attention from an international music community.  While her recordings are beautiful documentaries, Greener’s music becomes fully realized before a live audience.  Be sure to catch her next concert!
